Have you seen how Incognito mode has increased privacy?

As most Internet users are likely aware, Incognito mode allows you to surf the web without leaving a trail of cookies, history and temporary data behind.

Was it ever truly personal?

Not entirely...Windows used to save and synchronize the clipboard history from any Incognito Tab you used, such as text, images or web addresses copied to it from there, in order to preserve its history on other devices.

Be honest - you may not actually want a "private browsing session".

Microsoft successfully addressed this security flaw and made Incognito more confidential.

Your browser will stop saving when you switch into Incognito Tab in Chrome or InPrivate Mode in Edge.

Your browsing history should remain private to ensure no other device user can see which websites were visited by you. Cookies and site data help websites remember who visited their pages even when tabs close without keeping a log of previous sessions.

Fill in the form data to prevent your browser from auto-filling your details. Depending on your need, this could include:

Price increases when checking flight or hotel costs without cookies tracking them Signing into multiple accounts without signing out
Imagine you needing to copy confidential business data or send a private message without leaving a trace on a shared computer, while remaining Incognito. Windows used to save the copied text as part of its clipboard history allowing anyone pressing Windows Key + V to see it.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has also patched this bug so Windows will no longer record your clipboard history when copying in Incognito Mode.

Now, when you close the tab, all activity is truly gone. (Google has implemented this change into all Chrome updates.)

Microsoft recently made another small but significant privacy improvement: media previews will no longer appear when using Incognito Mode.

Windows will display a preview when you adjust the volume of a YouTube video or other media in Chrome, with details like title and artwork displayed when on lockscreen mode.

What exactly is Incognito used for?

Now with its latest update, Incognito indicates a website playing media without titles, thumbnails or details being visible to you.

If you are watching a sensitive video (business related or not), taking measures such as covering up your screen could prevent accidental exposure in case someone glances over.

Incognito provides better protection when used for private browsing, even if you were unaware of any problems before. Even so, using it now provides additional safeguards than before.

Incognito mode won't conceal your online activity from providers, work networks and the websites you visit; while this feature can provide some privacy on your device, it will not keep your activity completely anonymous online.
